High School Students learn about barbering career opportunities during “March Industry Madness”

During the month of March, The Barber School will host its first “March Industry Madness” Open House from March 1 to March 31, Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Students and representatives from various Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee high schools are invited to learn about career opportunities in the barbering industry, the application process, and financial aid opportunities. The Barber School will offer complimentary snacks to attendees and March Madness themed games will also be available for those who choose to get into the “March Madness” mood.

The goal of March Industry Madness is to provide students with information that will assist them in their pursuit of an education that can lead to a rewarding career. High school students will have the opportunity to interact with faculty, staff, and students currently enrolled in The Barber School. Students are encouraged to engage in conversation and learn more about the industry and the admission process.

“The Barber School’s goal is to produce skilled and knowledgeable professionals who will be prepared with the necessary fundamentals to enter the barber industry,” said Tamika Turner, Director of Operations for The Barber School. “We create an attractive learning environment for students by emphasizing short-term progress, individualized attention, progressive teaching methods, and providing relevant tools necessary for a “hands-on” education.”

Trade schools typically take a lot less time to complete, have smaller class sizes, and the majority of the training is hands-on, which is an ideal environment for many types of learners. Vocational degrees such as barbering can lead to well-paying careers and opportunity for growth including managerial and entrepreneurial potential.

Representatives of high schools who are interested in accompanying groups of students are asked to contact Mrs. Tamika Turner to RSVP your date and time exclusively for your group via phone at (901) 726-4247 or email tturner@thebarberschool.edu.
