Master Barber Instructor Program Description:
Barber Instructor training encompasses all phases of preparing to become an instructor in a barber school to include lesson planning and practical applications in this dynamic and growing field.
MASTER BARBER INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The objective of the Master Barber Instructor Program is to prepare licensed barbers for the State Board licensing exam. The course offers training in lesson planning and their practical applications, preparing graduates for entry level employment as an instructor in a barber school.
MASTER BARBER INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM /units of instruction
Lesson Planning – 125 Hrs
Originate, prepare, enact, testing and grading
General – 125 Hrs
Book knowledge, student motivation, teaching techniques, visual aid equipment, classroom
management, product knowledge and state laws.
Physical – 200 Hrs
Permanent Waving, Relaxers, Shampooing, Nail Care, Facials, Hair Color/ Lightening,
Hair Cutting and Clinical Floor Management.
Total – 450 Hours
TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS:
The clock hour education is provided through a sequential set of learning steps which address specific tasks necessary for state board preparation, graduation and job entry level skills. Clinic equipment, implements, and products are comparable to those used in the industry. Each student will receive instruction that relates to the performance of useful, creative, and productive career oriented activities. The course is presented through comprehensive lesson plans which reflect effective educational methods. Subjects are presented by means of interactive lecture, demonstration, cooperative learning, labs, student salon activities, and student participation. Audio-visual aids, guest speakers, field trips, projects, activities, and other related learning methods are used in the course.
GRADING SYSTEM
The grading system at The Barber School is based on the “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” and “F” scale. The number grading scale is as follows: A= 94-100%, B= 88-93%, C= 80-87%, D= 72-79% and F= 71% or less. The minimum passing grade for this program is “C”. All academic records are confidential and permanently archived at the school. (See Satisfactory Progress Policy this catalog.)

MASTER BARBER INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM CLASS SCHEDULE
Full-Time (Days): 32 hrs /wk (14 wks) Monday –Thursday 9:00am-6:00pm, with 1 hour lunch break and 2 fifteen minute breaks
Part-Time :20 hrs/wk (23wks) Monday –Thursday 9:00am-2:00p
Monday –Thursday 1:00pm-5:00pm
A student’s time is spent in theoretical, as well as practical work. The goal is to establish thorough and complete knowledge, as well as good professional habits. The program consists of demonstrations, lectures, examinations and practical application. The scheduling at the beginning of the program is primarily classroom work. The latter portion continued theory and the actual application of all phases on live models and mannequins, under the supervision of the instructor.
