INTRODUCTION/ ACADEMY HISTORY/

 

OWNERSHIP/ GOVERNING BODY

Torrus Brooks is the visionary and founder of the formally known Memphis Institute of Barbering, Inc., which opened in February 2000. In August 2004, he re-named the school to The Barber School where the newly renovated location houses state of the art equipment and modern furnishings.


ACCREDITATION LICENSING

The Barber School is accredited with the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences NACCAS), 4401 Ford Avenue, Suite 1300, Alexandria, VA 22302, 703/600-7600; Licensed by the State of Tennessee Board of Barbers, 500 James Robertson Parkway, 1st Floor Nashville, Tennessee 37243-1147, 615/741-2294; Licensed locally by the City of Memphis and the County of Shelby, for Occupational Licenses.


STAFF ADMINISTRATION

Mr. Torrus Brooks, Chief Executive Administrator, A Graduate of Christian Brothers University,

7 years administrative experience in the Barber School industry. Licensed Instructor, Licensed Master Barber for 15 years.

Mr. Fred Ross, Admissions Director, Licensed Tennessee Master Barber for 15 year.


ACADEMY OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT 2006-2007

Pursuant to N.A.C.C.A.S. Standard I, Criterion 3, an institution must assess the achievements of its programs and students on the basis of pass rates on examinations for licensure (70% min.), placement rates (60% min.) and program completion rates (50% min.).  This school is proud to announce that it exceeds the required minimums with the following rates:

The average percentage of students completing the program for the calendar year 2006-2007 is 62%.  Of those 62%, 82% passed the exam for licensure and of those 82%, 100% of those who passed were placed in jobs.
